About Brunson Martial Arts

Brunson Martial Arts was founded in 2001 by brothers Graylon
Brunson and Shaun Brunson. They began teaching formal classes in
November 2001 at the Baconton Community Charter School in
Baconton Georgia. It started out as an after school kids class and
grew quickly as more students signed up additional classes to eventually starting a parent’s class. This was the start of the adult class. In 2003, BMA started classes at a local gymnastics school in Albany Georgia. During this time BMA expanded classes to homeschooled kids at the Albany location teaching two days a week while still running classes in Baconton. In 2004, BMA took over a martial arts school in Albany that was close to closing it’s doors and moved its classes at the gymnastics school to the new location. Within four months BMA had outgrown the new Albany school location and moved the facility to it’s current location. BMA stopped it’s classes at the Baconton Community Charter school in 2008 due to lack of support and concentrated on building the Albany school. In 2010 it expanded it’s floor space to accommodate the growing classes and the number of students coming in. In 2015, BMA started the first Afterschool Karate pickup program in Albany Georgia. This is a karate class right after school that transports kids from school to our dojo for classes. In the first 3 years the program grew to 35 students transported in three vans. Okinawan karate-jutsu is taught at BMA which has a focus on standup and ground self-defense. Both brothers have extensive studies and training in different types of martial arts to include Okinawan Shito-ryu, Okinawan Goju-ryu, Kobu-Jutsu, and Jujitsu.
