Shaun Brunson

Shaun began his martial arts journey in the Spring of 1989 at the same school his brother, Graylon, was training at. Shaun was a quick learner, shadowing the upper belts in class and absorbing everything he could from the other instructors.

Shaun earned his Shodan rank in the summer of 1994. For his his skill level, he was promoted to Nidan a few months later based on his Shodan test results.

Two years later in February 1996, Shaun made the decision to join the military. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, and spending 6 months overseas on the USS Tarawa.

After military duty, Shaun moved back to Georgia to Warner Robins for job opportunities. There he started training under Duane Vincent, Kyoshi in Goju-ryu. Shaun introduced his brother, Graylon, to Vincent Kyoshi at which time both brothers became full time students under him.

After a year living in Warner Robins, Shaun moved back to the Albany area and began helping his brother start up a dojo.

Shaun was a strong contributor to the early startup of Brunson Martial Arts and created the Homeschool classes that became a big success at BMA. After a short hiatus from BMA, he returned as a full time instructor.

In 2019, Shaun moved to Eastman, Ga. after getting married but maintains his status as one of BMA’s top instructors.
